Requirement

A private customer in Brecon, South Wales, approached us with a requirement for a secure anchoring solution to support a section of a ropes course training apparatus. The system needed to provide a reliable holding capacity of 15kN to ensure the safety and stability of the structure during use.

Given the nature of the application, it was essential that the chosen anchor could perform effectively in the available soil conditions on site, while also being installed with minimal disruption.

Solution

To verify the suitability of the proposed anchor system, a site test was conducted to assess the performance of the Vulcan AS-30 anchor in the existing ground conditions. Two AS-30 anchors were installed to a depth of 1.2 metres using handheld equipment, demonstrating the ease and efficiency of the installation process, even in remote or restricted-access areas.

The anchors were then subjected to a pull test using a calibrated load frame, winch, and in-line load cell to simulate the required load. Both Vulcan anchors successfully withstood the target 15kN load, confirming that the AS-30 model was an appropriate and reliable choice for the project. This successful outcome provided the customer with confidence in the long-term performance of the anchor system, ensuring the ropes course apparatus would remain secure and stable under operational loads.
