Geotechnical & Civil EngineeringRetaining Wall With An Anchor Post, Oxford
Requirement
Oxford University were facing a dilemma with one of their boundary walls surrounding the accommodation buildings. It was starting to fail, and the wall was leaning onto the public footpath and was at risk of collapsing onto the pavement and road.
Time constraints and costs meant that remedial works from the face of the retaining wall were limited due to footpath closures and traffic management requirements. A remedial solution that could be installed within the property boundary was required and Anchor Systems were approached for their Anchor Post solution.
Solution
Anchor Systems provided a solution that used our patented Anchor Post to retain the wall as these could be installed from inside the boundary line.
Using the Anchor Post as an anchor point, pattress plates were secured to the inside lower section of the wall with fabricated shackles. A stainless-steel tie bar solution with a tensioner was then installed between the Anchor Post and pattress plate to retain and arrest any further movement.
No wet trades were required, no core drilling and no traffic management. The entire project was completed within 3 days.
