LOC Stages & Platforms

Our LOC Stages & Platforms provide a modern, low-impact alternative to traditional concrete or steel access structures across the rail network. Designed to support Location Cabinets (LOCs), signalling assets, telecoms equipment, switchgear installations, FTNx units and power infrastructure, these platforms offer a safe, durable and rapidly deployable solution for rail environments.

Each platform integrates a high-performance GRP (glass reinforced polymer) modular deck with our concrete-free Anchor Screws and Anchor Screw Piles, providing a foundation system that delivers immediate load capacity, strong performance in varied soils, and minimal site disturbance. Several Network Rail-approved designs are available as standard, and every platform is manufactured to order and delivered flat-packed for efficient transport and installation.

The result is a future-ready access platform system designed to reduce disruption, accelerate installation, and improve long-term maintainability across modern rail applications.

Key Advantages

Challenges with Traditional Concrete or Steel Platforms

Rail engineers often face several limitations when installing conventional platforms for LOC and telecoms equipment, including:

  • Heavy materials that require significant manual handling

  • Long curing times and delays associated with concrete works

  • Increased environmental impact and ground disturbance

  • Dependence on heavy machinery, plant, or track possessions

  • Restricted installation opportunities during short possessions or remote access scenarios

Advantages of the Quick Stage System

Our system overcomes these challenges by providing a fast, flexible and sustainable alternative:

  • Concrete-free foundations using Anchor Screws and Anchor Screw Piles

  • Rapid installation with no curing time

  • Installed by hand using lightweight hydraulic tools

  • Flat-pack delivery ideal for remote or restricted access

  • Minimal ground disturbance and improved environmental performance

  • Non-conductive, corrosion-resistant GRP deck suitable for electrified lines

  • Modular, configurable designs tailored to each asset footprint

  • Reduced manual handling hazards and improved site safety

This makes them ideal for both planned projects and reactive works.

How Our Products Are Used for This Application

Our LOC Stages & Platforms combine a modular GRP deck system with an Anchor Screw or Anchor Screw Pile foundation to create a stable, durable and low-impact access structure for a range of railway assets.

Typical Installation Process

  1. Minimal Ground Preparation
Only basic clearance is needed—no excavation or concrete works.

  2. Foundation Installation
Depending on ground conditions and load requirements, either Anchor Screws or Anchor Screw Piles are installed using handheld hydraulic equipment, providing immediate load capacity.

  3. GRP Platform Assembly
Delivered flat-packed and assembled onsite using bolted connections to create a secure, anti-slip working surface.

  4. Integration With Equipment and Services
Platform layouts can be designed to incorporate duct risers, cable routes, service penetrations, drainage and bespoke equipment footprints.

Every system is designed to suit site conditions, loadings, access requirements and cabinet dimensions, ensuring a reliable and safe long-term solution.

Types of This Application We Can Work With

Our LOC Stages & Platforms can be designed for a wide range of railway equipment and infrastructure, including:

  • LOC cabinets and trackside equipment housings

  • Signalling and power installations

  • FTNx, telecoms and communications cabinets

  • DAS units and telecoms masts

  • 5G and wireless infrastructure

  • Remote monitoring or comms nodes

  • Temporary, emergency or mobile equipment platforms

  • Replacement access platforms for renewals

This flexibility enables a tailored solution for varying footprint sizes, soil conditions, installation constraints and long-term access needs.

FAQs

01

Can LOC Stages & Platforms be installed without track possession?

Yes. The Anchor Screw foundation and GRP components are designed for manual handling and do not require heavy plant, making installation possible without track possession in many locations.

02

How long does installation usually take?

A typical platform can be installed within a few hours, depending on ground conditions, access constraints and platform size.

03

Can the platform be customised to suit different cabinet types?

Absolutely. Every LOC Stage is made to order and can be configured around specific cabinet layouts, access needs, duct routes and site constraints.
